At the 2017 Wines of WA (WoWA) AGM, the Board of Directors appointed Trevor Whittington as Independent Chair. WoWA CEO, Larry Jorgensen said that "the organisation has evolved over time and the role of President has become a bigger job making it difficult to do as a volunteer. As our focus is Advocay and Representation, a good understanding of government policy and processes is esential. We feel that Trevor brings a wealth of experience in this space."
Mr Whittington is well known in WA agriculture having been Chief of Staff for former Minister for Agriculture Ken Baston. Mr Whittington believes his past experience working with premium food producers in agriculture along with navigating relations between industry and government can help position Wines of WA to take advantage of growing interstate and international export opportunities.
Mr Whittington has hit the ground running and will be attending a number of industry events over the coming weeks. He looks forward to meeting producers to discuss industry dynamics and individual business concerns.
